Latest news: the gearbox is now clean and grease-free. The bevel gear looks to be true and free from wear (no pictures cos it was a messy job!).
I've also cleaned the gunk out of the fuel line.
Next job is to investigate the lack of spark. The HT lead seems to be ok, checked it with a multimeter ...

I have the manual on order, just waiting for Postman Pat to get fed up with delivering Chrissy Cards and deal with the important stuff (like Seagull manuals!). In the interim, can anyone advice me on the diameter of the flywheel nut for a 1961 Century Plus?
