Re: Choke Housing split pin
Hi Charles,
I did as you said, and no nothing, yet if i blow water up the pipe it comes out of the exit hole.
Bad news though... i suspect i have found a hairline crack it was hidden by the exhaust housing, it is on the bit of the head that the housing pushes onto and then is clamped onto with the ...

Re: Choke Housing split pin
Ok,
I have had a look, i removed the propeller/gearbox housing and gasket and with a drinking straw blew water up the water pipe, nothing, so I tried at the block end and some drips came out.
I removed the exhaust housing and loosened the nut holding the pipe to the block and when I blew water up ...

Re: Choke Housing split pin
Hi Hugz,
That's fine with me :)
I have emailed John asking for the spare I need, he is going to invoice me, its about £6.50.
I am just wondering though as the impeller does seem ok on the shaft if maybe it is the wrong way round and thats why no water is being circulated through the block?!?!
I ...

Re: Choke Housing split pin
Hello Hugz,
I had some time today to look at the engine.
The block looks ok to me, no cracks or distortions.
So I stripped the engine and rebuilt it, minus the block and carb area.
I was surprised all the screws came out fairly easily anyway the impeller is cracked, its a plastic one and has ...

Re: Choke Housing split pin
No nothing,
But I have to make sure I have things right on this... 2 little slits behind the propeller on the other shaft are where the water enters the engine correct?
When I take the engine out of the water, water does empty from it.
Can I take the side of the block off where the exit hole is ...

Re: Choke Housing split pin
Hello, Hugz thanks for that :)

Re: Choke Housing split pin
At the risk of sounding a little silly, especially of my earlier comments can somebody please explain in the simplest terms how to start the silver century and how to keep it running. And at what point am i supposed to see the steady stream of water running from the top from the cooling mechanism ...

Re: Choke Housing split pin
Does the shroud need to be threaded all the way? Because I am experiencing an issue where once tight the shroud is upside down
if say there was a 2mm gap between the shroud and the end of the thread would that make a difference?

Thanks for the pic:D
That makes good sense, did you manage to get the housing to sit back in the upright position when you re-screwed on it on again?
Steve
