Re: Long distance Seagull trip.

I did just over half of peter's trip 20 years ago, when my lad was about 10 in a 15 foot Coleman Canadian canoe with a side mounted FPC, with a tent & sleeping bags, Swags didn't exist here in the UK. All was brilliant until we got caught in a thunderstorm just before Henley, 3 inches of water ...

Re: Long distance Seagull trip.

Well done guys Impressive runs, 44 locks wow. Sleeping on a 12 footer is hard on the body most of the guys here that do the long runs have a swag for sleeping.

Re: Long distance Seagull trip.

British Seagulls will do long distances as some of the guys here have done do as Oyster 49 suggested and take a spare motor. Also being that far offshore I expect you would have all the safety gear (law in Aust.), flares, epirb etc. The longest run I have done was 2,000kms down the Murray River best...

Thought l might deliver pizza on it ha ha. 15572919792731434066569474673596.jpg Fun project they are easy to work on, looks like Seagull owners have similar taste love the Triumph, bath tubs are rare here. Here is a ph...

Re: Seagull Heaven

The burning question here is: once you have reached Seagull Heaven, what do you do next? Start collecting Birmingham Small Arms bantam motorbikes...... Amal carb, wipac ignition..... 2 wheels instead of propellor... 125cc, but piston is smaller than seagull (longer stroke). Hugz one Bantam is enoug...

Re: Retirement Project

Took the 102 for a run on the river today with my granddaughter. The outboard ran fine but, after about 5 minutes running, it stopped dead and would not restart. I had to row back to the ramp glad that the test run was against the tide. My initial thought was that the coil had failed when it got ho...

Re: Australian Auction

Better luck next time, think I will stick with the Seagulls and a few inboards I have but it is interesting watching what turns up. Will never finish half the projects I have waiting.

Re: Australian Auction

I can tell you a little bit about this one, as I had a friend there who spoke with the old fellow that bought it. He was in fact wanting some parts from it only and had set himself a limit of $300 (over the top anyway) but got caught up in it all and continued bidding until the hammer went down at ...

Re: Gear oil and two stroke

croweater, John, I am really pleased that the V Ring Seal, which I highlighted here as possibly much more effective than the standard soft washer/dirt seal in reducing oil leakage. How is yr LSs? Have you fitted a V Ring Seal to it? Maybe other people have experience of them? I have fitted them to ...

Re: Modifications - a good idea or not?

Thats a nice looking boat, it looks like it could handle a bit of rough stuff too :P Yes she has nice lines the type of skiff used on Sydney Harbour in the 1930's designed by David Payne. https://www.boatcraftnsw.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/David-Payne-Designs-Yellowtail-Skiff.pdf Its a little t...

Re: Gear oil and two stroke

Ok, here's my take on things. Everyone will have their own form of routine maintenance as do I which although not strictly the same as what's written in the BS manuals does follow most of the guidelines. From memory 10 hours seems to be the general rule of thumb between oil changes. I don't use my ...

Re: Australian Auction

It was the best looking of the Seagulls and it only takes a couple of keen bidders to push the price up, lovely tank.

Australian Auction

Last weekend a big clearing auction in country NSW's had a few outboards in the collection, 12 sold for reasonable prices but this one had the bidders excited, selling for $780.00 including fees. When I first saw a photo of the outboards they were laying in the back of an old International and Oldsm...
