Thanks everyone - I have ordered the socket extensions that fit on the drill - fantastic link! I will re-post when I have hopefully got the trusty 102 going again. I had always assumed that the drill on the flywheel was done with the spark plug out! I did once apply a drill to a yahama 2hp that was ...

Restoring spark
Hmm...struggling with a 102 where the spark is non existent. The flywheel has seems magnetic enough, and the points are clean etc. I can the pulse of a current if I take the spark plug off the cap, stick my finger up there and turn the flywheel - so there's some life there - not enough to do oouch! ...

102 and century parts - interchangeable?
Hi, are the crankshaft, piston assembly and crankcase for an early Century (CPC) interchangeable with a TC 102? I have a complete baseplate and crankshaft etc from an old CPC and I need to replace the 102's baseplate as the magneto is dead. I was just wondering whether I can just swap the complete a...

Which is the more willing engine?
Just thought I would start up my old SJ early 40 plus today and run it in a tank to get the cobwebs off. It stopped running last year, so I thought I would give it another go. Stripped the carb, cleaned it, and re-fuelled. Its cold out there today - but second pull, off she went - sounding superb. S...

Villiers Mk 1 - 102
Hi, I recently couldn't resist a great 102 with clutch, on a standard shaft. I did get the engine started, and it ran ok. However, then it wouldn't restart. So I did my checks - no spark (even on a new spark plug). In fact if i hold the end of the HT lead, no current - nothing. So I cleaned up the p...
