Very nice motor! Looks new!
Same as mine, only 6 years younger.
Guzzi in the background, is it?

Re: Its time for electric seagulls (E.Gulls)
Very well done! Why do you need gears to increase speed? Usually in all appliances the problem with electric motors is the high RPM and the need of reducing speed and gaining torque. You have two pairs of gears (one in the foot gear box), the second one undoing what the first one did. Perhaps anothe...

Re: Its time for electric seagulls (E.Gulls)
I prize Egull for practically making something. I also confess to envy a little the pleasure he got in designing and making his experiment and whish him the best result of his next tests. What is not shown in the post pictures is the big issue of the matter: BATTERY. Technology is slowly and steadil...

Re: BS Operating Instruction booklets
If this can be of any help, the Operating Instructions book that came with my 40 plus in 1963 in Italy is fourteenth edition, the BS address is Fleets Bridge Pool, Dorset and the number in the lower left corner is 6/62. I also have a Spares Book for CENTURY PLUS whith Clutch, CENTURY PLUS whithout C...

Re: and now for something completely different!
Jon, I perfectly understand and sympatize with the lack of room for all our "toys" and children's (and grandchildren's for me). And also the look. I am afraid it is hopeless, because as soon as you, anyhow, get more room, say a new garage, a larger courtyard or any, in an eye-blink it is f...

Why not start with a rigid hull, not inflatable, and then play with gear ratio and propeller?if we could go any faster

Re: Too much stuff.
Wonderful!
I am also of the kind that never dumps anything but this overtakes me without possible comparison.
The problem is that when you need a part, may be you have it and you don't know.
Best wishes
Sandro

Ciao Eugenio,
Charles uk's question is very important.
You must use SAE 140 oil in the gearbox.
By the way, will you go to next year's Velalonga? Unfortunately I missed the last one.
Happy sailing (and motoring) with the Lightning,
Sandro

Re: What was your first ever outboard?
A Piaggio Moscone, actually my Father's rather than mine, as then I was ten or twelve. (1946/'48) We never were able to get it work properly, so we soon replaced it with a Johnson 5 Seahorse. Later I bought a Fourty Plus - new (still going), then a Johnson 4, then a Yamaha 3 hp Malta. Now it should ...

Re: AD18082
The best way to prove that theory would be to check Seagulls own operating manuals from the period. Probably worth doing that before starting yet another myth which people will think is true as they read it here. OOPS, forgot the attachment. Hi, this is only a leaflet, not a manual, but this is all...
