Re: Adrian Dale

I have some very sad news passed to me by Jon. Adrian Dale passed away on Wednesday. I am sure all our thoughts are with his family at this difficult and sad time. I did not know him very well, but talking over lunch when he visited me, revealed him to be a lovely, generous man with a great range of...

Adrian Dale

I have some news about Adrian Dale, passed to me by Jon, who lives in Bristol, is actively involved in the Seagull scene and helped Adrian a great deal when he visited the UK. He informs me that Adrian is very poorly and it appears that he is now probably receiving palliative care. Adrian came onto ...

Re: Marston Twin

Thanks Rene for your reply and sharing the advertisement. They were indeed very expensive in their day, but being old fashioned now, I expect they are quite cheap .....!!! Yes, I have looked at the SOS page - thanks for directing me in that direction. All very interesting stuff. As, has already been...

Re: Marston Twin

Rene, Congratulations! It looks in wonderful condition. Indeed it looks fully restored. Thank you for sharing this find with the wider Seagull community. Can you tell us a bit about the Marston Twin. Most of us have never seen one, or indeed, likely to! It looks as if the cylinders are positioned on...

Re: HSD12704.L

It is great to see an old Seagull being brought back to life in a quick, simple and very skilled manner. I say simple, and I mean by that, it is being done in an uncomplicated, straight forward, experienced and knowledgeable manner, with no bullshit or ego getting in the way. Well done Adrain and Al...

Re: Mks 2 and 3 ignitions voltage

Donald, I haven't come across the Capriccio 23. Tucker was very productive, with many designs to his name. My Debutant was also heavily rigged with twin forestays and twin backstays. In an era of hanked on jibs, the twin forestays were a boon for sail changing and for setting two jibs downwind. The ...

Re: Mks 2 and 3 ignitions voltage

Donald, I have picked up your comment about Robert Tucker stretching his Caprice to 23 ft. What was the 23 footer called? I use to own a Robert Tucker Debutante. That was 21ft and a truly excellent cruising boat. He really understood how to design a boat for plywood construction. Was the next size u...

Early Series Forty Models. F, FV, FVP, LM & LS

I have at last got around to updating the data list of the F, FV, FVP, LM and LS models. As it is not possible to attach multi page files here, I have taken photos of the first and last two pages of 15. If it interests you sufficiently, then please send me a PM with your e mail and I will forward th...

Re: FVs

So, it would appear that the early F is the smallest.

Re: FVs

Spiro,
My knowledge of the complete Seagull range is very limited. However I would put forward the Early Series F model of 40cc as possibly the 'smallest' in terms of weight and engine capacity.
Perhaps somebody could state the capacity of a small pre war Marstons......

Re: FVs

Allan, That must have been the quickest rebuild on record! Congratulations! It looks really good and seems to make the right noise. Well done. Great to have another Early Series Forty up and running. Yes indeed, roll on summer. Let's get the dingies out on the water with the FVs clamped on the stern...

And the steel plate itself would be the last thing to corrode.

Re: FVs

Charles,
I think you know the answers to both those questions.
So, I suspect that you are merely testing me.
Go on, just tell me what is on your mind.

Re: FVs

It looks a very professional cleaning tank, Allan. A very good way to get everything in a state to examine and process. It is very nice to see the parts looking almost like new. With regard to Spiro's question about what sealant to use on the steel plates, what do you intend to use? If FV12206 has n...
