I'm looking for a new (second hand) inflatable for my 1976 Forty Plus, I have seen a 2.3m roundtail - do you think its suitable for engine and would it be big enough for 2 guys plus a little fishing gear?

Re: Took the old girl on a run today
The textbook cold -engine start is to flood the bowl; do you do that on warm re-start? If not, It may be taking one pull to suck in some fuel first, on the warm restart. Not everyone needs to do that of course. Do you shut off the engine by blocking the carb intake? That would flood a little but (i...

Took the old girl on a run today
Decided to try the water and headed down to Poole Harbour with the inflatable and forty plus today, went well engine started first pull and pushed boat along nicely. I didn't catch any fish but my mate caught 2 small bass which were released.

Re: Forty Plus FP 612 EE6
Started engine up today, fired up 2nd pull, running fine on tickover, when you try and increase revs engine dies???? No water from telltell but expect it needs higher revs.
Any ideas?

It's where the tank has been repaired by a previous owner.Keith.P wrote:Silly question, what's the round disk on the top of the fuel tank?

Afternoon, just finished giving my recently acquired Forty Plus a lick of paint and a clean and thought I would post some before and after photos. Quite pleased with results for my first attempt.

Re: Forty Plus prop
Bear in mind the differing gearbox fitted to 40 plus and forty minus engines. the forty plus has a larger prop running at lower gearbox RPM. fit the smaller prop to the forty plus and you will get less thrust and a tendency to over rev. So a slower boat and a screaming engine, revving beyond its li...

Forty Plus prop
Afternoon, I will be using my new/old 1976 Forty Plus on my 3 meter Inflatable boat, now this may be daft question but if I was to use a smaller prop from a 40 minus would it give the boat more speed?
