Re: AC Authenticity

Post edited out

CharlesP (Moderator) - I've edited this whole post out. I started to remove the offensive personal references, but the task became very tedious as there were so many of them, and the resultant gaps made the thing completely unreadable.

Re: Modified 102

Yep, that'll be the one. Apologies again if there was any confusion as to who wrote what back then! Yes, a honda crank of some description, possibly one from a wallaroo (whatever that might be, some sort of scooter i'm guessing) I do like what you've done with your century engine Gareth. I'm wonderi...

Sorry, no it wasn't you was it!
It was Gareth wasn't it. Silly me

It's late, that's my excuse

Re: AC Authenticity

I'm glad you approve of my rather original looking fuel tank. I quite like the look of something that has a certain patina to it, and for this tank at least all i shall be doing with it is a light tidy up of any missing black paint and a touch up here and there of any gold with a final coat of clear...

Re: Modified 102

I'm reading lots and learning lots. I still like the idea of trying to accomodate a "tuned pipe" within the stock seagull exhaust tube. And to that end i think i might have found something that will work after a little fettling to make it fit. I will probably have to lengthen this "pi...

Re: exhaust port

I wouldn't say they're different as such, possibly not quite as well finished as they could be and on first glance they might seem to be different. As Oyster has mentioned, possibly from different foundry's. A lot of these 102 blocks look a bit "rougher" than your typical century block, an...

Re: Moderators Meeting Spillover

So, is there any more news about this?

When will we see the first of these "improvements" that have been suggested.

Re: Corrosion Protection

I've thought about the same problems with my 102's. I do the usual flush through in fresh water as well, even though my motors never see any salty stuff. But there's always a first time for everything i suppose. The rust problems seem only greater with the 102's cylinder as trying to get any decent ...

Re: EFPC Starts OK but Won't Stop

I agree. I would refit the original carb to your seagull at least to try and eliminate certain other things before you decide the carb is the culprit here. Start with the basics and clean everything from the tank right through to the carb. Strip the carb right down and pay careful attention to where...

Re: AC Authenticity

Martin does your 102 look anything like this one? Regulars will have seen these pics from a while back so this might be a second viewing for some. This is one of mine and not a million miles apart in the serial number if yours is AC14685 .(wink) This is AD14088 but a direct drive, although the spec ...

Re: AC Authenticity

Martin I'm glad you don't think this boring. Some might say otherwise though! The "flying gull" decal is spot on for a 102 of this age. The sailor man decal came along a little bit afterwards so nothing wrong there i'm glad to say. :P Aluminium fuel caps are basically the same spec ...

Re: AC Authenticity

As mentioned earlier, you can be really anal over some things and yet be ok with other things. Entirely up to you. Just about everything all fits together anyway so there shouldn't be any problems with running the motor how you've put it together. Gearboxes for AC's would appear to come in 3 distinc...

Re: Taking SJM 661L5 For a Run

As a comparison, my SJM has a brass tiller with the longer throttle lever, an "in the world" ignition cover,a chrome plated brass exhaust tube with 1 small hole, a 2 holed inlet (not slots) on the gearbox identical to an FV, clench bolt facing forward, a few more aluminium parts and flat t...

Re: No!

Here's a thought how about marinising a car engine! (or should that be 2?) I've seen a few river cruisers over here with some older Ford engines (i think 1100cc ohv) that are reasonably lightweight. Not stupidly fast, but i think adequate for what you'd need. psssst. suzuki do a nice little 3 cylind...
