Re: the motor goes " bang"
i have try every gaps and screw position for like 3hours and half, but no effects...just at a moment the noise stopped...but the "bumps" restart 5 minutes later
so i am gonna try with a new plug, maybe the plug's gap isn't good anymore.

Re: the motor goes " bang"
hi Hugz
i have check the spark plug, i undo it so i could see the piston
it seemed a little bit darkened, and the hole seemed greasy too
maybe i'll sand the plug with 600grain
i m gonna take a plug from a spare forty plus and try with it.
are you sure the noise is coming from ignition, that it comes ...

Re: the motor goes " bang"
the points are 0,5mm at their max, but it is when the piston is on top course, close to the spark plug, right?

Re: the motor goes " bang"
the bus was too big for the flywheel anyway...
but i just try the motor again...
at first it doesn't start
then i realised that the ignition points wasn't 0,5mm when the cylinder was on top course, so i changed it 0,5mm at top course
then i turned the flywheel again
the motor starts first stroke ...

Re: the motor goes " bang"
thanks for your advice , Hugz
i had checked those points once 2 years before, but effectively they have moved; the 2 points were touching each other
so i turned the screw in order to have a bus ticket thickness in between. i had forgotten those two little points!

Re: the motor goes " bang"
hi guys
i cleaned my carb yesterday
it was quite clean, except some metal particles i found in it
i don't know where it comes from
i hope that's not the rings!
i looked down the carb hole while turning the wheel, the 2 rings seemed ok
maybe i'll try to run it before unsealing the block,
what if ...

the motor goes " bang"
hello
my seagull forty is running perfectly
excepting autumn leaves stopping the water pump sometimes,
or long grass making knots around the propellor, everything worked fine
until i noticed the carb was always leeking when the motor wasn't running.
i solved it by closing the fuel tap when i ...

Re: 40+ loosing power
hi, so when the engine stopped, the flywheel was hard to turn and a metallic noise was to be heard.
the engine was damned hot, and my waterway was full of rust.
so i clean it, put new copper gasket, new piston rings, with the good method (boiling the pin in hot water etc)
the cylinder block seems ok ...

Re: 40+ loosing power
hi seaguys
i thought i had repaired the litle forty by changing head and cancrase gasket after cleaning waterways, but the fact is that it was piston rings.
the motor goes well, a very nice quiet sound, but 15 minutes after, facing the lock, it weakened again. damned dancing rings!
well, i ordered ...
