Re: Kingfisher / Osprey
Couldn't measure compression when I got it as head was off ... and goosed. I think I have sourced an early gasket so hopefully skim wont be necessary. Still worried about thinness of outer top of cylinder .... could I repair with chemical metal just to get surface area for gasket seal back?

Re: Kingfisher / Osprey
Charles, Not sure what measurement you mean but have attached photos .... as you can see there was a fair bit of corrosion within the jacket with the top part of the cylinder greatly thinned. Inside surface of bore looks fine and piston running smoothly.

Re: Kingfisher / Osprey
Thanks Charles, I held a steel rule on edge across the bore but couldn't even get a 2 thou gauge in between, the motor is a 1987 KL. On a related point the outer edge of the top of the bore is thinned down to a couple of millimetres due to corrosion within the jacket ... will this be enough of a fac...

Electronic ign flywheel nut
I have removed these before using a bodged up pulley holding tool made out of a garden hoe but .....How are you actually meant to slacken / tighten the flywheel nut on an electronic given you can't hold the flywheel from turning as it has a cover and you can't take the cover off without removing the...

Re: Kingfisher exhaust inner
Hugz. The curlew one looks like an altogether more fancy arrangement ..... wouldn't like to try and botch up one of them! Charles, Thanks for the info. I spotted a pick in the spares book .... it looks superficially like a fuel tank brass blank plug ... it wouldn't happen to be the same size would i...

Re: Kingfisher exhaust inner
That's great, thanks very much for your help. I should be able to have a crack at making one now. I guess if I could use stainless it might last better, I hear they had a tendency to corrode badly. Thanks again Arbian.

Re: Kingfisher exhaust inner
Thanks, I couldn't figure what that hole was for. The image on the main site of the re made ones had a hole in the tube part way down, does the original have this? If so how far down and what diameter. Cheers Arbian

Re: Worth fixing?
What is the serial number and what parts are required. As Keith says it's a common motor so you can probably get hold of the more expensive bits 2nd hand and buy the plug / lead / cables etc new. If you don't need it now you can bide your time and keep your eyes peeled for the necessary bits .... no...
