Back again with a vengeance...

Well with a Plus actually. Circumstances last year meant we had to sell our Century, but we never got rid of the boat. Times change and we acquired a freshly serviced Century Plus, a great deal younger than our last bird admittedly, but eager for service. Now just been in contact with John, finding ...

Re: chinese manufacturing

Problem is with Chinese manufacturing is that they build to a price. It has happened in two of hobbies already. Airguns and Motorbikes. In airguns SMK have been importing Chinese manufactured rifles and pistols for decades. The humble B2 is a pile of pants, a loose conglomeration of parts that occas...

Re: How many pulls to start?

Bet I won't be able to do that again! And why not? If you have good fresh fuel and started only the day before there is no reason why it should not start first time, espicially if you stop the engine with your hand over the carb! I just throttled down. Have not dared try to start it today. I am goi...

How many pulls to start?

Got up this morning and decided to have another go at starting the engine from cold again.
2 thirds throttle, open petrol tank screw, close choke, pull full tap, flood carb, wind cord, pull.
Starts first pull.
Bet I won't be able to do that again!

Some swine insulted my Seagull this morning!

Trying to track down some TC-W3 oil, phoned a chandlers in Ely, asked if they sold 2 stroke oil, yes they do. TC-W3. no. TC-W2. no. Just ordinary 2 stroke oil like you use in chainsaws. But that is not right for my outboard, what outboard have you got? A Seagull. Well they were obsolete 50 years ago...

Re: Seagull at sea.

Or put another way, the SJ series of motors was a continuation from the previous series of outboards in the "little model 40" series e.g. F,FV,FVP and LS although some folks seem to frown on the LS as not being within the same family of engines. The jury is still out on that one... The SJ...

Re: Seagull at sea.

So you have a 40 minus 4 blade hydro prop and a 40 minus cloverleaf prop, its not a weed free prop, and most probably off a SJM, not a common prop and very hard to find if you wanted one. The parts outboard I bought was an SJM, http://s1036.photobucket.com/user/mikecarter1969/media/40%20Minus/DSCF1...

Oh I thought it was a weedfree looking at the shape, it does say 40 minus on it! http://s1036.photobucket.com/u...

Wilbur Flies Again.

Many of you remember my panicked requests for help in resurrecting Wilbur and the jubilation in getting a spark. Well Wilbur needed other work and other spares and I was reluctant to go carb diving. I have rebuilt motorcycle carburettors, however the carb failing on the A47 is a lot easier to fix or...
