The Elusive Marston Twin

Hi all,

Was browsing through the lastest magazine from the AOMCI and there's this picture of a Marston twin in it. No idea how original it is.

Cheers

Re: Is it Just me?

With regards to fuel tanks... In my data collection so far of SJM and SJP motors; The last SJP I have recorded with a plain ended tank (at the present time) is SJP 34918, which according to the Identifier was manufactured sometime around 1961/62. The first SJP I have with the stamped tank is SJP894E...

Re: Another Old Dear

Nice one B!

I have serial 00479 and bits of 01303.
You may recall there was a problem with the magneto base plate not being a snug fit and rattling around as a result.

I think I have an unbroken tiller arm here somewhere which you are welcome to if you wish.
Talk soon,

Cheers

Re: Marsden 1939

Hi Grumpy, Around 1914 there were quite a few outboards, most of the ones I know of are American, a couple being the Waterman Porto or the Evinrude Row-Boat Motor. Am not sure of exact dates when they were introduced into commercial production, I think Evinrude 1909ish and the Waterman maybe 1905. M...

102 AC

Hi all, Over the last few weeks I've been quite busy with exams and the like, but they're finished for now... another round in October. Anyway, this motor came in needing a bit of work - AC 43676. It was purchased as a 10th birthday present for the owner in the 50s from 'Tropical Traders' here in We...

Re: WW2 picture.

Pat,

That is a Johnson outboard. Probably a 22hp POLR-15 or similar.

A member brought one along to an old outboard meet we had in May last year - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeIj16ItRt8&t=13s

Re: Owners of Australian Riptide Outboards - Call to Action

Just thinking out loud... Take Fisherman 59 6022 for instance. Maybe the '60' refers to the hp, i.e. 6hp (in the same way Mercury did it in the 60's) and maybe the '22' means it is the 22nd motor made that year? Spiro, I have two Fishermans, I'll send you the serial #s next time I'm in the shed Chee...

Re: Split-single Two-stroke

Maybe a French 'Gutbrod'?... A couple of similarities, but also a few differences.

Jan 2017 Old Outboard Meet

Hi all On Sunday 15th, we had our first Wet Meet for 2017. We set up on the banks of the Swan River, just opposite Perth City. With temperatures in the high 30's, we were lucky to have set up under a shady tree! Most of the outboards on display were British Seagulls; there were also BMB Britannia's,...

Re: 150 scale

It's a shame they don't make cars like this any more, dead easy to work on and fix Jon, I'm currently working on my first car, a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Wagon and quite annoyingly there is about 20 different plastic covers and panels you have to take off to get to the timing belt. They are secured w...
