Re: How to Improve Starting

Have you got it set to run a bit on the lean side? sometimes that can make it hard to start but once running seem ok, try turning the mixture up a touch and see what happens. I thought along these lines originally but could find anywhere on the carb to adjust. Any idea on where I should be looking?...

How to Improve Starting

Hi there, as some of you may have seen on my other thread I have a couple of old Seabees. The small one is the one we would like to use the most for our tender boat but it is a pig to start. We've replaced the spark plug and cleaned the carburettor but it hasn't made a whole lot of difference. It st...

The engine number of the big one is:

Re: A couple of old sea bees

Are yes, I noticed that hole when I took the prop off. I thought there would be a pin going through the prop itself but there is nowhere for it to go.
Do you have any pictures of the shear pin in place?

Re: A couple of old sea bees

Hi Keith, thanks for the reply. Here's the bigger one: http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/vv265/nunfa1/IMG_20150709_201314053_zpslex0puya.jpg I'm not sure the gearbox is the issue as the shaft does seem to be turning, there looks to be a lot of play between the prop and shaft: http://i690.photobucke...

A couple of old sea bees

Hi there, I've acquired 2 old JAP powered Sea Bee outboards. 1 of them is a small minor I think and the other is the slightly larger big brother. I'll post a picture of both when I get a chance but there are a couple of issues with both. The minor is very difficult to start, we have fitted a new spa...
