Silver century crank against a 40+ crank

So I acquired a fairly nice silver century a while ago and quickly realised someone had had a go at getting the flywheel off which meant the crank was flattened at the end and even slightly bent, did what I could but decided it was time for a new crank in there so I got one ordered And soon stripped...

Yes had it running once but had some issues which I put down to a blown gasket, I then completly stripped down the engine, and boxed it up with some other spares I had acquired and moved house just before xmas. Only just unboxed them today and resparked my interest!

Yup, freed up and turning great after all the excellent advise!!!
Now looking at building a funky Frankenstein gear box but it would mean taking out the pinion shaft.... :oops:

I think the headgasket may have gone... There is a kind of mayo gunk around it and it was steaming in the area a little... I assumed it was rain steaming off it at the time

Yeah it has changed a fair bit, I'm only 30 so i can't remember it before the bridge...
I grew up in Holbrook though so i know the Shotley peninsular very well.
Live in Ipswich now and quite fancy a flock of seagulls on the Orwell!

I was thinking the butt and oyster would be a great starting point you can easily launch there and its free!

Well overall it went pretty well, but after shutting down the engine it struggled to restart again, I think I need to check the ignition over, plug and gap, but it's got the wipak mk4 ignition, is the ht lead able to be replaced on those if it needed it???

I must say I'm not a fan of powder coat.
I had my kit car chassis powder coated befor building it, I now wish I had it galvanised.
