Re: Tough little Beasties

Looks as though I am late to the "death to photobucket party".

Nice to see that Photof*ckits $400 blackmail attempt tanked the company, lots of sackings, and grovelling apologies to incensed subscribers, and...... the photos are back. Happy Days.

Re: Ouch

He might want to fit a skeg to that! And that was 5 to 10 ish horsepower motor. I wouldn't wan't to get on the wrong side of one of those 150+ horsepower turbodiesel engined longtails you see in Thailand! I could never see how the Thai's could keep those things balanced. Effective though. :P

Re: Flywheel to Tank Gap?

Well, I wouldnt put it past myself. :) Once upon a time using an outboard for the first time, feeling pleased with myself at starting it, not falling in, getting going, going the right way, I now needed to stop. After the Doh! moment at realising there were no brakes, looking closely at the side of ...

Re: Flywheel to Tank Gap?

I think it has the long range brass tank, but judging by the dents, it's probably been used as a cheese down Cooper's Hill the last few years. Forgotten my photobucket details, so no new photo's for the while. The tank jubilee straps have now been reversed, so now you don't smash the sparkplug cap o...

Flywheel to Tank Gap?

Is there a given gap between the spinning flywheel and the stationary fuel tank? As mine is the perfect gap to ingest a finger of the careless whilst pulling the starting cord. Should the gap be enough to let it through to the other side? Or trap and crush it whilst stopping the engine? Just wonderi...

Re: Starting in Reverse?

It can be done with diesels with in-line injector pumps. At least I managed it reverse bumping a three cylinder lister engined dumper. Honest. I still have the mental scars, ten degrees of frost, three plungers of SAE30 oil, (glow plugs, wot they?) and using that starting handle (don't they go a LON...

Re: Salcombe, Soar Point, Nuclear Bomb Shelter, Romani

Just been up on Soar today, and asked about the shelter. Unfortunately the Hope Cove shelter was sold several years ago. Seems that developers are trying their luck, as I think it is outwith the National Trusts ownership.

Does anybody know what happened to the outboard collection?

Re: Tough little Beasties

Looked in my tool box and found my whitworth sockets that had had sat unused for thirty years. Too easy, so assuming the law of sod was sleeping, I couldn't resist a quick try of the headbolts. and..............they undid really easily. Luck or Nato Fluid, who knows, but I am chuffed. So for the pic...

Re: Tough little Beasties

the head bolt threads are somewhat exposed within the waterjacket That is good news, this means that they are somewhat exposed to the penetrant that is currently sitting in the said waterjacket. :) I shall operate next weekend after it's had a good long soak. Plenty of the nato fluid pour...
