Re: An old 102 series comes to light
What parts are you short of? Normally parts supply for post war 102 is quite good. Most can be obtained used. I am still waiting on its delivery. The owner said it is complete and he used to use it on a boat he had, it may need another coil of course. I will post what is required when the motor has...

An old 102 series comes to light
I may be asked to restore this 1947/48 motor?
Serial number is AD 3216,I am told that it is complete, which may be just as well given the age and supply of spares?

Re: Roys second 102 series build
The parts off that 102 probably do still exist in my shed somewhere. You cant expect me to look for the exact same part as thats near impossible in the many boxes of parts i have... An honest question, why would I want to buy a part complete Amal 2 jet carburetor ? I am in the process of rebuilding...

Re: Roys second 102 series build
Roy, This motor was broken up over a year ago now... (Most regulars on here will relate to this) I have a 15x10' shed that is FULL of seagull parts and many complete motors. With this being the case i cant guarantee that the carb you will get will be the same as the one pictured in the photo of my ...

That was not a bad ruse to put off import duty officers?
It did not work and even on the 20.00 pounds declared value I paid som R178 here at our post office to get the parcel, about 10.00, the actual amount that I paid for the (mixed) order and with postage was 90.00 pounds.

Re: Roys second 102 series build
The picture that I was able to select parts from is is this one. Note that the Amal 2 jet carburetor still has the throttle slide cap in place, I would assume that the throttle slide and spring was inside the carburetor? The air intake hood has been changed, as the black plastic choke that we see is...

Re: Roys second 102 series build
I guess that buying from the internet will always have a risky side to it? I bought from the picture posted by the seller, the main item that my 102 series engine needed was the Amal 2 jet carburetor, what I got was not complete, so as far as this purchase is concerned I am still some way off finish...

Re: A Forty series to Portugal
I reverted to the original silver on the flywheel, the tank needs its gloss black paint, then the tank transfer with some clear lacquer over that to protect it.
The motor can then be sent with the owner to wherever they are headed?

Re: Tank conversion to bayonet cap
I had a restoration to do on a total wreck of an engine, the petrol tank had no cap but someone had tried to fit the bayonet type, off a radiator no doubt.
I had an egineer make a new neck up for me.

Re: Roys second 102 series build
This 102 series engine is now parked and can remain so until the required parts come over the horizon? As it started with a seized piston and has ended with a VERY NICE 102 engine that runs really well I am in a very good space with progress this far. I have also come to like the 102 series motors w...

Re: Roys second 102 series build
Did you get a picture of the right impeller for that housing? Will that drive shaft tube fit in your thrust block? Yes on both questions. Fred over here stocks two sizes of impellor? What I need now is a 102 gearbox and propellor, the gear box needs to handle the clutch assembly. Should a gear box ...
