i had the same prob with my century, i was ready to try anything when someone suggested useing cheap cola, icouldn't beloeve it after soaking for 24 hours i turned the flywheel by hand

finally finished my gull

i finally finished building up my seagull today, it started life as a century plus with clutch that i bought last year seized solid. i rebuilt the engine and fitted this to a century leg witch i bought a couple of years ago as the gearbox casing was broken on the origanal one, the driveshaft,tube ...

its the long range tank, both threads were damaged and one stud has been bent somehow. i've just replaced both studs as described in my origonal post and i'm very happy with the end result. took about 30 mins to do , just wants a coat of paint to finish it off

i just hate to throw something out if i could fix it instead,
the rest of the tank is fine.
the other alternative may be to cut new threads onto the existing studs reducing them to m6.

fuel tank fixing studs

hi
i have a steel fuel tank and the two studs to fit it in its cradle need replacing and would like any opinions on my plans before i start, ( or indeed any better ideas)
what i thought i might do is cut off the old studs, drill two holes in ther place and cut m8 threads in the holes
then screw in ...

poole would suit me nicely,
been busy today, my box of bits is now a partialy assembled seagull.
i'm using a century plus power head and mating to a century leg and intend using this engine on my timber built enterprise.

thanks for the quick reply, the teeth and bearing are fine, i want to replace the seal on the pinion and also thought that a complete dissasembly and clean now would make future maintenance more straightforward

driveshaft/ pinion removal

hi all

i've just started stripping a seagull i bought siezed last year with the intention of rebuilding it. its a century 1963 i believe.
can anyone tell me how to separate the square driveshaft from the gearbox and remove the pinion gear,

any advise greatly apprieciated
