Re: SD Register
Very good, thanks. I haven't decided whether bitsa's should go to the registry yet. What do others think? There are a few on there.

Re: SD Register
The infamous SD sidemount has continued its journey south. It is now in Victoria Australia in the hands of an, also, infamous member!

Re: SD Register
Thanks Eddie. An early one. Only 5 registered before this one. This would be a good one to restore. I'm assuming no tank (disappeared with the block) or throttle lever or mag coolie hat and nut? A couple of questions. Gear lever has no 'patent' inscription and gearbox has nipples on starboard side? ...

Re: What SD Bracket?
For the SD registry I'm assuming the Clutch lever is plain with no 'patent' inscription. I'm also assuming that the fuel tap is brass. Please let me know if I'm incorrect. Interestingly there appears to be 2 CIESS skeg stamps! Good stuff!

Re: What SD Bracket?
Jm # is on magneto or flywheel. Yours should be a 4 digit number starting with an 8. JM8xxx.

Re: What SD Bracket?
Looks like there is a bit of the side mount attached to the torque tube.
If that is a brass carb body then that is a good find. Ali Coolie hat on mag is unusual. Wonder what the jm number is?

Re: What SD Bracket?
Strictly speaking, they came out only with the big heavy side mount, which there are only about 6 known. It is generally accepted that the brass skeletal brackets are used post-war. They, l believe, came out with the 'D'and 'C'.

Re: Boxed SD
A thought. The rest of motor is wrapped or greased yet the tank is not. Was the tank removed, painted and decalled to be sold as ex war stock? It has been discussed that it was unlikely that in the austerity of the war years they would put decals on them yet were any other seagulls have directions o...

Re: Boxed SD
The fear is that a museum would just store it. And who would finance it? It is a later one so I'm not surprised re shroud air intake. I would think many of the trumpets got squashed so a more hardy one was developed. Tanks and decals are always a mystery.
