Re: Bermudian Hull Build
Yes, same style as #13 but we are <16’ long. Width is mid 30s whereas in the 24’ hulls (like #13) it is less than 30”. The width is something we play around with as we try to find max speed.

Bermudian Hull Build
Decided at the last minute to build a new hull for this year’s RISR. Here are some pics of the process... In total three pieces of 1/4” plywood was used (for hull + deck). 1x2 was used to attach the deck to and 1x3 was used as stringers. Transom was I believe a spare piece of 1/2” that was laying ar...

Re: Fast 170
It's on a Yamaha leg from a 5R and then uses a 170 cylinder, head, piston, and casings (but bearings have been added).
Built it for a bit of fun to see just how fast a base Seagull motor could go. You can hear it from a mile away!

Re: My motor
Charles, any plans to come back this year and do the race again? We've ironed out a few kinks and are now +600rpm from when we raced in the Ironman. Looking forward to seeing what we can do in a few weeks..

Re: My motor
It's Andrew. We built this for the unlimited class as we wanted a real Seagull to be faster than any Sport with pipe, etc. However, with JJ's planing hull we will need something similar if we want to keep up with him. We did the Ironman a few weeks ago in about 1:40 including a stop for fixes on Sou...

Re: My motor
I couldn't afford to have new casings cast like Charles did! Powerhead is a looper, yes. Carb is big (and yes, off a moped) but we wanted to see just how fast we could make it go. If you want to add bearings to a set of 170 casings you will need to build up the outside as there isn't enough meat on ...

Will be in NZ next month and was hoping to find some Seagull spares to bring home with me... Anybody got any links or names of who to contact? More than willing to share some Bermudian knowledge to anybody who is interested. Will be driving down from Auckland to the South Island

Re: Bermuda RISR 18th June 2011
Is there a chance of going short and fast, or are the waves too big. There must be a limit to a length that is viable; semi displacement must be valid. Also as hull weight is directly proportional to length, is there a point at which additional length adds little to speed. H-A Two people have to go...

Re: Bermuda RISR 18th June 2011
Build a card copy of a real Bermuda hull...use it as inspiration! Don't completely deck it in though - he can't move in order to optimize weight distribution. http://www.saving-old-seagulls.co.uk/forum/download/file.php?id=1218&mode=view http://www.saving-old-seagulls.co.uk/forum/download/file.p...
