1970 Silver Century L/S Delaware, USA
With original box but little packing, possibly some of the manuals. Good compression, runs well. Clutch model. Lovingly tended to & stored. Re-painted fuel tank and flywheel. I can get pix, as I just jumped on here for the first time in years. Boy, do I miss this lot here! Would appreciate US$ 3...

Re: New member
This site mentions the advisability of using a timing light to determine if the coil needs to be moved for the sake of timing: http://vkakarting.com/replacing-points-with-ignition-module/ The 40+ I put one in seems OK as it is, though it would not hurt a bit to check it out. I also use one in a Niss...

At the risk of sacrilege, try one of these in lieu of points and condensor. They show up under the brand name of Nova II - https://www.ebay.com/p/Electronic-Transistorized-Ignition-Module-for-Small-Engine-Motor/1945036335?iid=251965998793 ....and also available thru Amazon UK under another name, or ...

Welcome aboard, haryjim . You've discovered by now that, all too often, when you purchase one Seagull, it gives birth to another one in short order. Left to their own devices, they will now breed like flies and your collection will grow. I've personally been lucky enough to stay with the original pa...

Re: where to get 140 oil ?
Naturally... I found this site, with a choice that may fulfill the need: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-813-sae-140-gear-oil.aspx This also is one way to go: http://r.ebay.com/oqBZ9e At GBP 10.50 / US$ 16.52, it's not terrible if it lasts two or three seasons; I'm used to paying only 2/3 that price for...

Re: where to get 140 oil ?
Howdy. The EP rating identifies a gear oil with modifiers (1) to help it withstand Extreme Pressure such as are seen in automotive gear boxes (i.e. gears whose teeth meet at an angle (2) & on parallel shafts) and differentials (3) (where their shafts meet at other than within the same plane). Ol...

<like> Thanks for sharing this find. The stuff sold in just under a 1-litre can at the home centers (Lowe's, Home Depot) runs fine as well and hasn't dried up my cork tap seals as described a few posts up. Goodbye, ethanol! http://lowes.com/pd_383762-442-6527238_1z0wgcn__?productId=3654390&pl=1

Re: New Sea Gul owner with 1 question
Hello from really cold, snowy North Eastern Pennsylvania!... The one question I have is maintenance of the lower unit. Say I use it to troll with that day. End of the day I put the boat back on the trailer, pull it next to my cottage and head back to Pa. The boat/motor(s) can sit for 2? 3? weeks ti...

Re: Alkylate petrol and Seagull?
Agreed, that there is the issue of the 40:1. The question is to whether this looks pretty much like the same stuff as the European product. I would, if used at all, add the usual 2-stroke oil at the normal ratio as if this source had no oil of its own. Or try for the straight no-oil variant and stil...

Re: Alkylate petrol and Seagull?
Would anyone care to offer conjecture as to whether this type stuff http://www.trufuel50.com might be an Alkylate fuel as well? Expensive (for USA especially) but, as little as I use...... It would sure make great storage fuel.

Re: Took the old girl on a run today
The textbook cold -engine start is to flood the bowl; do you do that on warm re-start? If not, It may be taking one pull to suck in some fuel first, on the warm restart. Not everyone needs to do that of course. Do you shut off the engine by blocking the carb intake? That would flood a little but (in...

Along similar lines, there's one on the U.S. east coast (MD) that's nearly free! US $65 (sixty-five). I'm not allowed, but if anyone else wants it, give the owner a call. http://annapolis.craigslist.org/boa/4417920022.html http://images.craigslist.org/00F0F_kHtVFpYpmln_600x450.jpg Must be picked up ...

Guys I don't know but for no specific reason I don't like those tubes. OK it is supposed that the pump pushes the water only up to the level of the outlet. Indeed but I doubt if anyone has taken into account the friction added because of the additional tube. In such occasion I would reduce the diam...

Re: Cylinder honing..
Hugz, you might want to try a brake cylinder hone rather than a regular combustion cylinder hone. Same deal, smaller size. One like these, that span 32 - 89 mm, and puts your 58mm right about in the middle. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HORIZON-Disc-Brake-Small-Engine-Cylinder-Hone-Set-Description-1-Se...
