Re: Seagull 170 Longshaft for sale - genuine sale
Yes, it is still for sale.
I will PM you my mobile, as I am currently living away from home.
as for price, make me an offer. I know I will make a loss on what it has cost but I no longer have the boat to put it on!!

Seagull 170 Longshaft for sale - genuine sale
For anyone looking at previous postings, you will know I own a Seagull 170, that I had to rebuild.
Basically, it has now ended up with a brand new crankshaft, and a replacement flywheel. (both of which were bent)
the engine has been re-assembled and runs fine. (as well as new carb parts.) (but the ...

wipac ignition no spark (again)
I have "obtained" another complete wipac basplate/flywheel etc from another engine, and again no spark.
though, from this other scrap engine I have now made a bench test rig if crank and crankcase only, so as to be used purely for spinning up the flywheel.
I will now attempt again to get this ...

silver century / century cylinder head - internal difference
have read the above, but have just now assembled a century, and when comparing the inside of the cylinder heads, whilst the outsides are identical, the insides appear different. the century head had a little step that matched with the stepped piston. the silver century head on the other hand did not ...

no energy
Okay,
i must also state that the "original" engine apparently never used to run right........which is maybe why it was abandoned in the shed where I found it....apparently it was a bad starter and would never keep running....
okay, I admit, I have replaced the cracked block.... and replaced the ...

Wipac (from silver century) lacks energy to create spark
built an arrangement with old casing+ crank from century, then attached wipac baseplate + flywheel.
Then attached electric drill to spin it up.
Basically, even after spinning it a considerable amount, there is "some" voltage in the lead. enough to give a small electric shock (which increases as ...

start first pull - villiers retrofit.
After leaving for a day the silver century with retrofitted villiers igntion, I went to start it last night, and it fired first pull of the string (in fact, the first rotation of the flywheel it fired and ran).... no choke needed (I have removed the shutter anyway.)
Due to the fact I now appeared ...

silver century wipac no spark
Hi,
Have just had the same problem with a silver century I have just rebuilt. I swapped over the villiers baseplate+flywheel from my old century and it runs fine.
From above, you say the villiers is actually better than the Wipac?
So, should I bother trying to get the original wipac working? or ...

170 crankshaft
I have already emailed various people/dealers etc, so this posting is aimed at individual forum members who may happen to have a scrap 170 with a broken conrod but decent crankshaft.
If anyone has a scrap 170 laying around (ie with broken con rod cap etc) then I am looking for the remaining ...

machine shop
could you email me the machine shop you are using?
it maybe more useful to use one that has done this before. ie. if they have already done you a con rod cap they will find it easier to do the job again.
