Re: Forty Plus
Takes me back to my teenage years, my Dad had a Wayfarer and it was during the glory years of Seagulls when we saw them every where on the Welsh coast.

Re: Interesting take on outboard portability.
My Chrysler is 1978 so actually older than my 82 Seagull 90, but I guess it's a much more modern design when compared to the Seagull although much of it not necessarily an improvement in every day use and one grows to appreciate the lack of idiot interlocks on the Seagull. Things that prevent you st...

Re: Interesting take on outboard portability.
I don't have problems with fuel or gear oil leaking on my motors, but the oily sludge from the exhaust is hard on the cream leather seats :) I used a Chrysler 7.5 hp motor on my inflatable recently and just could not get enough gas out of the fuel bowl when running it with the tank disconnected to n...

Interesting take on outboard portability.
One thing I love about the Seagull motors is their ability to run the carb almost completely dry when the fuel is shut off and the way they can be easily transported with a tank of fuel and ready to go when you hit the water. I saw this Evinrude motor advertised and had never seen anything like it b...

Re: SAE 90 Gear oil in Canada
I get SAE 140 from my local agricultural store apparently it's still used on farm machinery and you get a lifetimes supply as the can is huge for not many dollars.
SAE 90 can be bought in Walmart if nothing else in a Quicksilver brand but is pricey $11 for a quart.

A great project nicely executed and the best bit about it is you ended up with a great little fun boat that will give you endless enjoyment and get used regularly.

Re: Seagull's competition 1970s
The one thing I really love about Seagulls is the ability to start and run the thing out of the water due to the impeller design. If it's not been run for a while it's great just to be able to start it quickly just to make sure it will do so when you get to the water, much better than having to mess...

Re: Serious challenge to the Seagull reputation!
How about doing the whole test yourselves and then sending it in to him, I'm sure someone could come up with a Suzuki 2.2 for you. I'd love to assist in such a project but being in the US would make it a little difficult, my Seagull may be getting a little tired by the time I've crossed the Atlantic...

Re: Way, way off topic..
The answer to the original question is a resounding NO! Even as someone with a reasonable collection of firearms and a great love for them, I cannot imagine wanting to spend that sort of money, even if I had millions in the bank, because things that are not going to be used for their intended purpos...

Re: Seagull's competition 1970s
Seagull must have been on a slippery slope from not much after WWII when you look at what others companies were making by the 50's based on some of the online ads I see here in UT for old outboards. When you look at the OMC motors of the 60's and 70's then you can see the inevitability of where thin...

Re: jan 2013 storm.
Yes, exactly like it. It's pretty difficult to get here in UT, it sells out really quickly. I'm sure this storm will not help supplies, but I can certainly go with out Ginger Beer when you have to deal with that storm and flooding.
