Re: Little Forty
Some people are experts, some people listen and learn as they go, some people have the knack of knowing how to fix things, Then there are people who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a Seagull, ME! When I put it all back together I dIdn't connect the throttle cable correctly so the valve piston wa...

Re: Little Forty
Sorry for the stupid post, but it worked for me! When I first got my Little Forty, it hadn't run for a while, and myself and my two (BIG) Sons exhausted ourselves, taking turns trying to get it to start. I had recently discovered this Site, and on reading the "Magnet Charging" Topic, I tho...

I love the way the old Singer Sewing Machine has been stripped to make a stand for it. Looks the part, don't you know!

Whatever it's off, it was a 2 stroke. On the Cap it says "1/2 pint of Castrol XL to one Gallon". I had nothing to do, so I've just spent an hour on Google, but I still can't find anything like it!

I'm fairly new to all this.
I thought I might offer a bit of an explanation as to why I seem to be asking silly questions on here. I've been happily chugging round the local River and Estuary for a few years now, in my OLD Mirror Dinghy, with my Forty Minus on the back. The dinghy slowly ended up with more patches than origina...

Re: Fixing the 20 footer
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b114/geetbigal/Pulley._zpsagft59jo.jpg There it is, in all its plasticised glory! I was given a Boat Steering Wheel by an acquaintance. He had sold his Boat, then found a spare wheel still lying in his shed. It has a 'rod' fitted, that goes through the 'bulkhead' w...

Re: Fixing the 20 footer
Good old Ebay! Not exactly the same as yours, but I found some plastic ones that had the little fixing clamps on, which are ideal for the locations I have eyed up on my little chugger.

Re: Fixing the 20 footer
Probably a stupid question, but is there an "official" name for the rollers that the steering string/wires go through.(The ones in each corner) I've tried all sorts of variations of 'roller' but I can't find the ones I want. (Yours!)

Grumpy, What is a cross beam on a trolly?? Maybe this was a mis post to another thread??? WB "Perfectionist Humour" I should think. Everything looks just about perfect with the Engine, but the piece of wood it is clamped onto is 'below par' He's suggesting you mount it on 'exotic' w...

Re: Don't Flood except when cold
Back when I first started serving my Apprenticeship in the 1960s, "flooding" was simply used when the Choke was utilised. It used to practically close the air inlet in Carbs back then, so the engine would be "flooded" with petrol, to make it start. (Ancient Mechanics Parlance, ba...
