I don’t have a tool to measure the compression but it seems about the same as my old Seagull Forty and a bit more than the Honda 2.3

Re: Beginning again...
Thank you Charles, Serial number FPC 776 FF 9 Villiers carburettor, Wipac 2 ignition, clutch good, gearbox seals intact. Your comment reminds me of a conversation that I had with a Hong Kong acquaintance when I was living in Being in 1997. He was proposing to drive his Rolls-Royce 20-25 from Hong Ko...

Re: Avon Redcrest with 40+ short shaft suitability?
I used a Forty Plus on a Redcrest for several years and plan to do so again soon. If the Redcrest has the floorboards in it certainly helps.

John Marston died in 1918 at the age of 82. If Wikipedia have it right, his business was bought by Nobel Industries Ltd. In 1926 Nobel merged with Brunner Mond and with British Alkalis and British Dyestuffs Ltd to form ICI, with the Nobel bits as ICI’s Nobel Division. In 1937 - the year of the adver...

Re: Starting in Reverse?
The biggest two strokes are crosshead marine diesels which run up to twelve cylinders of a metre in diameter producing over 100,000 hp to drive the largest container ships. They are always started using compressed air, and as Journeyman says you stop them, change the fuel settings over and then star...
