Re: Crankcases and Crankshafts
To blokewithaboat, many thanks, this is all part of my British Seagull learning process. I am well used to the various tuning options for the Hillman Imp, from standard Mk1 875cc to full race 998cc motors, The Seagull is not new to me but the road I have been taking in recent months is :P I am a blo...

Re: Crankcases and Crankshafts
Is there a chart for all of the Seagull engines which show the bore and stroke with a cross reference to the parts we can mix?Charles uk wrote:Jon it might be as well to mention the conrod differences, please.
What is the compression ratio of a Seagull engine?

Re: Crankcases and Crankshafts
Did you also know that a 40 series crankshaft will fit into your 102/century cases as well. Timing will be miles off though due to the positioning of the woodruff key which aligns the flywheel in relation to the ignition baseplate so this is something else to be aware of if you're buying bits from ...

Re: Crankcases and Crankshafts
Guys,
Thanks on this thread as I am hoping to build up a Silver Century crank case to either the 102 engine or the Silver Century motor format.
I now need, crank, conrod and piston, plus the block, I have the head and a copper gasket for the Century motor.

Re: Crank and Pistons are the same?
The pistons are the same although I remember an old thread that asserted new piston rings were too wide for a new piston. Further, some assert that the profiling of the original 102 pistons, a little different to the 'modern' (modern - lol) offering, is more efficient. Its a bit academic though, un...

Crank and Pistons are the same?
My next Seagull engine build could be a Century or a 102, it depends what parts turn up in the future?
I have a question, the two crank cases I have are both stamped with Silver Century engine numbers.
Would the crank and piston from the 102 series fit the same crank case, as in are they the same?

Re: Roys next build will be a Silver Century ?
That 102 alloy cage should be removed from this assembly?
Then again I still have no crank, piston, con rod or block so the engine could become either a 102 or a Century, is this correct?

Re: Roys next build will be a Silver Century ?
A change of engine, no longer the 102 series but now I find the spare crank cases that I have are stamped with Silver Century engine numbers.
Question, did the 102 series and the Sliver Century use the same crank case?
I have one Century cylinder head that is servicable.

Re: Any big gulls in the US?
The first one I did was not my own.
It was a real wreck and my first sight of the 102 series, I had other parts from the 102 engines so had those replated when the one on the bench came in, they have been handy parts to have in stock as the next two engines could use the replated parts.

Re: Any big gulls in the US?
Bravo ! We have moved in a similar way, I once thought that the older 102 series was not that great, then I had a box of parts with some 102 power heads was given to me, slowly and I mean very slowly, I started looking at them and one by one I have produced two such motors, with another one being pl...

Re: Roys third 102 series build
Scraping the bottom of my parts bin I discovered a part damaged flywheel base plate, I have a Wipac 2 coil and a probably servicable plug lead.
There is a restored flywheel as well, so progress has been made?

Re: Roys third 102 series build
Having run out of many parts I have just fabricated a dummy drive shaft tube from cardboard and plywood.
This allows me to display the next series 102 engine, I need the block and piston next?
