Re: HP and Thrust

Yes Seagull did, but not a static bollard pull, they had in the late 1980's a transom bracket with a set of scales built into it, so they could measure the thrust at the higher revs when under way. Which was higher than the static bollard pull & more representative of the results that a customer...

Re: Steel Head and Base Plates

Can you give us the engine number from your 40 so we can let you know if it's a model that requires the steel gaskets.

Re: Nuts and bolts

It would help whoever answers your question if we knew which model & exactly which nuts you want (photo & serial number).

Re: Seagull with a tugboat (Youtube)

Bruce straight out spark plug & cylindrical fuel tank = 102
I was looking to see if it had a clutch rod.
25 tons is a huge load for a Seagull 102 at maybe 3 mph looking at that bow wave, & looking how little water disturbance behind that motor

Re: Seagull with a tugboat (Youtube)

I'm still waiting for the video of a Seagull pulling a Water Skier!

Can anyone zoom in on the Tug & confirm it's a fixed gear 102?

Why not try contacting Graham at Simply Seagulls in Taranaki, he must know an oil supplier that stocks it your end of the world.

Re: Amal carb banjo fiber washers

Gentlemen your missing the whole point of the float chamber, it's there to establish a fixed level for the fuel below the main jet. Change this with the wrong thickness washer & you could well alter the fuel/air ratio a small amount. Fibre washers of the right diameter/thickness cost cents pence!

Re: Something happened

There is a 0.25 mm (10 thou) paper gasket under the end cap & a thrust washer between the bearing case in the end cap & the crown wheel, this hardened washer is important as it sets the clearance between the crown wheel & the pinion gears, they are available in 3 three different thicknes...

Rene can you attach it onto a drive shaft tube & take a picture, from these pictures the top & bottom fitting don't look to line up.

Re: Side Mount Bracket

The lower picture has the correct thrust block but bracket has been cut and welded right at the top, to fit a much thinner hull, possibly on a transom. Whereas the top picture has had a top support fitted in place as a thrust block, & some weird device attached to the top support, so no ability ...

Re: KSR1100

Cut a coloured paper gasket using a scalpel & the cylinder exhaust flange as a pattern, then take a photo of the paper lined up with the inner exhaust bolt holes to show your readers how disgracefully this inner exhaust fits. The gasket doesn't need to be made from any material that's too sexy, ...

Re: KSR1100

Put the top half of the crankcase back onto the cylinder , then you'll see why there's no paint in the transfer port area!
