Re: SDP restoration

Try MR Muscle oven cleaner, works for me. Spray on leave for ten mins use an old tooth brush to get in all the awkward places, cleans degreases it will work great on those crank case castings.
Oh and thanks for the sunshine i had forgotten what it looked like!

Re: is this an origonal box?

Yes those where the days. When you could put a sign on the side of your valuable packing case to advertise what was in it. Now poor old Mr Postie has to open some packages to see if its valuable

Re: Restored??

Not a patch on yours Adrian still surprises me how much people will pay for these little motors. “Restoration” you would assume that the restores aim would be to return to as close as possible. Within capabilities to original condition not merely a quick flash over. Well pointed out Mr Jerseyman 8)

Re: is this an origonal box?

Looks like a design for fitting inside a dinghy. The mast or boom to sit in the top the box would sit port to starboard or vice versa. Nice honest little motor but i already have a good 40+ and one more that I’m fettling though it is only 40 miles away!

Re: Shh dont tell wife!

I found that if i stand the degreasing bath on the top of my speakers parts wash themselves.( Thats in the workshop as im band from washing any parts in the kitchen any more) Now what you listen to is up to you but it’s a dam site cheaper than a ultrasonic cleaner: P Simples but effective. Brave man...

Re: Little 40 FV series

Adrian you have done a cracking job a truly superb little motor your attention to detail is impressive. Is that the original fuel line and when you lead load do you fill the tank with co2? I’m intrigued what is the next project

Re: Century 100 56/57

Like I said Jim these little engines get under your skin. When there’s something to be done, it has to be done. You have been lucky with your head, the bolts are notoriously stubborn and unpredictable. Do yourself a favour replace the bolts in stainless steel John will no doubt have all you want in ...

Re: Century 100 56/57

Thanks Jim it’s my intention to make at least one of 2012 meets. I wouldn’t mind doing the Hayling island trip but I’m sure that my 2.9m inflatable would not fit the rules. I want to meet up with some of the guys this coming year. I was looking forward to the SD meet this year up north that never wa...

Re: Century 100 56/57

Mr Grumpy Seagull maintenance can be split in three ways. 1) Those who strip the engine after every outing. Slight obsessive but that’s what happens when you inhale too much semi- burnt 10;1mix 2) Those who follow the manufactures instructions. Never removing the head on the 40 as that’s what it say...

Personaly i dont think it matters just dangle it over the side it helps keep you cool. Not so good if your a long way to your waterline and have only a short one! :P

Re: Century 100 56/57

Now now chaps this is supposed to be a serious post. I am well aware that not all of you are brave enough to post pictures referring to your appendages. But my symphonics are as we would say up north in fine fettle. Thank you for asking 8)
