Re: Century 100 56/57

A positive result is the best one. I’m pleased that all’s well, I too have used the symphonic method of cooling at tick over on my 40+ when the temp was 100+ in the French alps it was essential, as for flushes i only use in fresh water.

Re: SD Fuel Cap

Thanks chaps, I’ve been playing around trying to get something like the original one. I have cobbled something together to get me out on the water but once the workshops finished should be spending more time out there.

Re: Century 100 56/57

Welcome Mr Grumpy Firstly spend time formularising yourself with your engine. Take lots of photos of everything this will help the rest of us understand any problems. As well as we all like to look at one another’s projects. If it has had only two trips out it could be quite simple clean (flush) out...

Re: New member

Geoff I will take that one claim to that quote thanks, as always it’s a pleasure to help gentlemen. It never ceases to amaze me how these little engines get under your skin. I do think after a good clean (don’t overdo it you upset people) your engine should be used as it was intended to. Dont forget...

Re: which two stroke oil for 1948 engine?

Hi Mark welcome to our community Firstly the issue of two stroke oil has been done to death on the site just type in the search bar. You are correct with 10; 1 mix and only mix up just as much as you need. Most petrol loses its volatile essences after a few weeks. Most of this information can be fou...

Re: sd 102 restoration. where do I start ?

You need what is called in the trade as a frigging stick. A piece of dowel with a slot part down its lenth and wrapped in wet and dry. This saves a sore finger and gives an even finish

Re: sd 102 restoration. where do I start ?

Charles if you’re a tight bast*** what would that make me ! Oh I’ve tried the epoxy thread technique no such luck for me but it’s great for sticking the inserts in. I found that if you put the body of the carb in the jaws of the lathe you need an insert to stop the body from distorting and then the ...

Re: sd 102 restoration. where do I start ?

I machined mine out and fitted a ally insert with a 13mm thread. Re cut the tread on the banjo bolt, epoxy the insert in and Bingo sorted.
A lot cheeper fix than £40+ replacement
