Re: SJP2497 Continued
Charles, you're too kind (good-lookin', too, especially when squinting real hard from a distance) I have no doubt there are better products - just stating that I've been using RTV for 15 years as well with no issues that I've ever found. And yes - having mating surfaces that are properly prepared &a...

Re: SJP2497 Continued
Same as Mr. Large. I was shown to use Ultra Copper RTV at the head gasket & Ultra Blue RTV at the cylinder base & for the Crankcase halves - very light coat. Has always worked for me.

Re: Onehunga Seagull race
Mr. Large... there's some mild footage after 3 minutes into the video - not a particularly rough year though. Some years are more fun than others, seeing your bow through & under breaking waves more often than not on South Shore...

Re: Bermuda round the island race
A big thanks to Mr. Large for coming down and blessing us all with his grace, his wisdom, his stunning good looks - just his general all round presence, really. It was good to see you, as always. Hope you had enough fun to make it worthwhile - and we'll catch you sooner rather than later... "Li...

Re: instructions or Amal Carb
The age-old question I think you'll have an easier time using an old drill bit or an allen key that fits snug inside - a sharp tap should do the trick.
Edit: I should have clarified to use the blank end of a drill bit against the tube, for the reasons pointed out by Charles...

Re: instructions or Amal Carb
1,5 & 6 - no outlets on this model. 2, 3 & 4 spray out with carb cleaner. Follow with wire in 3 & 4, if corrosion present, blow out and respray till your sure it's clean. That brass atomiser (?) sleeve next to 2 (that the main jet screws into) pops out if you push from the plunger & ...

Re: instructions or Amal Carb
Probably a good idea. The corrosion in the bowl you've cleaned up shouldn't be a problem, but if it's there in the carb's fuel passages, it definitely would be. I'd definitely check the carb's fuel inlet behind the filter screen at the banjo - If you don't have small enough drill bits, maybe a low E...

Re: instructions or Amal Carb
Flyguy, No expert, but the fact that the revs settled after partially covering up the intake suggests it running too lean. From the pics, there looks like a lot of corrosion has been present - did you clean out the carb's fuel inlet from the banjo side and from the carb bowl side (what your fuel nee...
