Re: Boat build

Good work there, keep the pictures coming. My own boat build for this year has had a delayed start. I have just got as far as scarfing some sheets of ply together and hope to start cutting out the panels over the weekend. Last year I built a fishing kayak and have considered hanging a 40 plus off th...

Re: The Great Annual Waikato River Seagull Outboard Regatta

Yes, and now the sun has been shining and I have put fresh gearbox oil in my Seagulls. I have given my kayak a check over and touched up the paintwork. Just hoping for a chance to get out on the water soon.

Better days are coming...

....please!

Forty Plus - nuts or bolts???

Hi all, This is a question that I have been meaning to ask ever since acquiring my second Forty Plus. As we are in lock-down, again, and I am at home with my three daughters doing the home schooling thing, again, and it is raining, again, I have time to post my question here; I have two Forty Plus m...

Re: New to British Seagulls (40 Plus)

Hi Nik, welcome to the group. I am fairly new here too, and also have a couple of earlier Forty Plus motors. Your motor has a Villiers carb, the choke is a flat metal plate that pivots between the air intake and the main body of the carb. In the closed position it covers the air intake (choke on). P...

Re: Am I on a slippery slope?

...the ideal boat is always three foot bigger than the one you have. Now that is a fact that I am already familiar with. At first I drew up plans for an 8 foot tender, just to give my Forty Plus something to push. Then I thought 'why not make it 10 foot, for a bit more room' and now, before ...

Thank you chaps, you have confirmed what I knew already, deep down. I guess that I was hoping the old denial thing might work 😁

Am I on a slippery slope?

During the course of the summer I was suddenly compelled to build a plywood Kayak (for my kids - of course  ). This was my first ever boat build and, I have to say, it was great fun and entirely successful. I then had one of those "inspirational" flash-backs, to my childhood. My dad ...

Re: help Silver Century/90/Osprey dyeing

In the FAQ section there is mention of similar symptoms relating to leaking head gasket or cracked block. There is no specific mention of excessive smoke, but might be relevant.

Quick introduction...

Hi all,

My name is Mark and I am based in East Hampshire. I have just joined the forum having recently acquired a Forty Plus - SJP50704 - c.1962/3.
I look forward to sharing my experiences with this motor and getting some useful advice from other members.

Cheers, Mark
