Depending on which CDI pack you have, you may not be able to remove or change the HT lead.
White CDI - yes
Brown/black - no

Re: British Seagull Outboards (YouTube Clips)

Pat777, No problem posting the youtube video on here - has been on here before, posted by me. I actually only have 1.5 Marstons (you can see the half on the grass in the video). The one closest to the camera is mine, (and the better one), the other belongs to a friend of mine and I restored/got it r...

Re: British Seagull Outboards (YouTube Clips)

Pat7777, It was me who ran the 2 Marstons out of water. As a bit of background I have been building and rebuilding outboards for more than 40 years, and have never had a problem running engines out of water for a short time. I will typically not run them more than a minute or so and low rpm's. I wil...

Re: feather 40.

Are you getting good fuel flow from tank? Disconnect fuel line from carb, turn on fuel tap and allow fuel to run into suitable container. Is flow good and steady? When engines dies, is there fuel in the carb? When engine dies do you still have good spark? Perhaps coil is on way out and fails when wa...

Re: Silver Century Overhaul Start Up Issues

If it has been sitting for years, I would start by removing flywheel nut and flywheel cover and then dress the points. then check for a good healthy blue spark

Re: Spark issues with a 1981 British Seagull EFNR 110

I believe the CDI ignitions are available on an exchange basis only, and they are not cheap plus you would need to pay postage to send old one to the UK plus nostage for new one back to you. You will also need o determine if you have a mark III or mark VI ignition. Tell us if a groove around circumf...

Nothing complicated about a 5R, poorly designed and made, yes.

More revs but I doubt more speed. The 40 minus prop is pretty small if I remember correctly

Re: Flywheel cover with text in black

To me a 5R is a Seagull as at least it was assembled by them and does carry a Seagull built powerhead. The Sport - all they do is slap a sticker on itand call it a Seagull. Nothing remotely Seagull about a Sport. Plus it has more displacement than any real Seagull

Re: Flywheel cover with text in black

Bercan, Seagull Sports are not Seagulls in my book. I agree they should not be allowed to race on that basis. However, they do have their own class and do not qualify for line honours and I few of the other prizes. Think they were allowed to keep the numbers up, as the pool of "real" Seagu...

Re: Beginers Flea? Starter Bermudan?

The Bermuda flea design is years (decades) old. Many here are making their own boats, that whilst similar in design to the original flea, are slightly different, and each builder pretty much does his own thing. This one here is 24" and there is no "V" at the transom, which makes it a ...

Re: Beginers Flea? Starter Bermudan?

Here are a couple pictures of a Bermudian Flea. They are about 20' foot long and carry a small amount of "V" all the way to the transom

Re: Amal 400 Series

Chicken, I am sure they are not that hard to make, especially if you have the appropriate tools to make them, which most of us here probably do not have. So if they are so easy to make, why don't you make a batch and sell them to SOS members, as I am sure that more than Collector Inspector would lik...
