hi stelios i dont have measuring device with me at the mo. have to go to work to get it. original block with hex type core plug/welch plug. replacement block with slotted type core plugs. its the closest i've got as a direct replacement so i'm going with this. just needs a quick "touch up"...

i'm just plain tight!

i dont throw away old fuel i use it to degrease all manner of engine parts or use it as a pre-soak prior to deep cleaning.

gets barbequeus going well also when you first light it! (be carefull with that one though) :oops:

found this in a box under the bench. completely forgot that i had it. must have bought it for something else i was doing at the time? core plug/welch plug on this block are slightly different compared to what the original "blown" block had. hex head on the left and slotted type on the righ...

back to the gearbox. after a little bit of cleaning, things don't look too bad after all. pinion gear ok, no missing teeth or any real signs of heavy wear,and the bearing has minimal play (fore/aft and left/right) crown wheel ok, just a little rust between the teeth but this should clean up ok. the ...

fuel pipe would be good as it's got the "clear" pipe at the moment but leaks a little at the tap end from the fitting.

All ok here in BRISTOL. my flock nice and dry. 20 miles down the road though, not much fun! Road closures and diversions all over. trains not running at all down the west coast, coach transfer laid on by rail companies. bloody mess really. Poor buggers some of them just redecorated their front rooms...

yep i've seen this sort of stuff before and does work quite well. I think i would need to see how well it would polish up before making a decision on using it. In the interests of remaining "authentic", i think i will have a go at trying a test piece first before commiting all the way. You...
