Remember to get as much electrical conductivity between the spring and nipple. This is an area that causes problems of lost or intermittent spark. Yes, nipple can dislodge and disappear.

Here is a bolt I took off another motor. You can have that to get you out of trouble. Engineering shop is not acceptable

Re: Putting up a real fight!!!

If you are close to Lane Cove you can have the base plate if you wish to hit yours with an angle grinder. You will still need to find a locating stud though. I'm not into posting unfortunately.

Re: Putting up a real fight!!!

You inspired me to pull a plate apart. A good coil so I can modify it to fit a JM magnet. It is an Australian coil called Rofo.

Re: Any big gulls in the US?

If you are considering importing a motor from across the pond Andrew, the SD you mentioned is a good choice. I have communicated with the owner and can say he is very obliging and a gentleman. The motor itself is largely original with only needing a fuel line and a brass clutch lever and maybe a new...

Re: Roys second 102 series build

Any idea of the engine number on that? Has a later Ali transom bracket. And a clutch. Why are they breaking it up? Seems a shame.

Re: Roys second 102 series build

You can make a longer throttle cable from bicycle brake cable. Either from a cycle shop or from a dumped bike. Use the ends to make a mold. Search the threads on this forum to find it.

Re: Will a 102 series run with a smaller Villiers carb?

That's given me an idea. In the past we have talked about running a gull on alcohol. It is hard to get alcohol and oil to mix but with Roy's arrangement a drip system (oil) could be introduced through the hose with a secondary oil tank.

Re: Roys second 102 series build

Yes... rectangular strip of iron with 90 degree twist and three holes. You could use an oval tank using same principle!
