Re: EFPCL Lives!

I agree having a recoil starter is a nice feature, but the design of the seagull leaves something to be desired. Then there is the even "stupider" design as found on the 125/170. Same starter but rope goes through the cover and the cover can't be removed completely without either removing ...

Re: EFPCL Lives!

I agree with CI in that the fix I suggested is probably not a long term one, but what have you got to lose if the spring is NLA? Yes a replacement spring is best option if you can find one. My personal opinion of the seagull recoil starter is that it is crap and for that reason I do not use them. I ...

Re: Short shaft conversion

I would guess it was modified to be used as an inboard motor of sorts - ie through the bottom of the boat.

Re: EFPCL Lives!

Re the starter spring, I assume you have the spring, but one end is broken off? If so you can make a new end provided you still have the broken off piece to use as a template. Heat the end of the spring with a blow torch until red hot, then using suitable pliers (normally needle nose) bend the end t...

Re: EFPCL Lives!

Stu, Re the stiff fuel line on the EFNR - I grind the crimp fitting off of each end then pull the hard hose off. You can then replace the fuel line with stuff from your nearest auto parts store. Under the stock black fuel line are barb fittings on either end. Of course it will not look original, but...

Re: Century 90

Could just be that the shift linkage is out of adjustment. Might want to try disconnecting shift shaft from shift lever then try to see if it will go in gear. If it does, then adjust shift shaft length to suit

Check fuel filter in tank, on end of fuel tap. Check air vent in fuel tank cap.

Bermuda round the island race

Well we had sign up last night and so far 88 boats have signed up, which is a record number. Amazing really for such a small island.
Now if we can just break the magical number of 100... which I am sure we will do in the next year or 2

I have had one of these weights come off before as well. It was welded back on with no apparent issues.

CDI ignitions

I assume most of us are aware that these fail on a regular basis. I also assume that whatever fails is some simple diode or the like which probably costs pennies to replace. Has anyone ever dug into a failed Mark III or IV ignition and figured out what normally causes them to fail? There has to be a...

Re: instructions or Amal Carb

Did you make sure tank was clean, fuel filter, fuel line etc? Carb may be fine, just not getting fuel delivered fast enough.
Also, which Amal carb do you have?

Re: EFNR What should i know before Buying?

I agree a shame to dump them Charles, but if I can't give them away and I do not want them, there is no point holding them and have them just take up space. Someone on this forum from the USA wanted one. I said he could have for free and that I would take to the USA on a trip that I was taking very ...

Didn't think those alternators were that rare or desireable. I tried to give them away and couldn't so I ended up throwing 3 in the trash, one new in the box

Re: Puzzle, some help please?

Lack of water in the leg will also allow the rubber bushings on which it rotates for steering purposes to melt. And yes, the plastic water pump needs water to stop it melting too. Think if the water ejection had been a couple inches lower, most if not all this problem could have been eliminated. Or ...
