Hi, I've noticed that every one of my seagulls has a different starting variation of throttle to choke. My old 102 has no choke and only starts on 7/8 throttle. My century starts on full choke and 1/4 throttle. If I forget I'm in trouble! The tickler is to just fill up the bowl and keeps the inlet v...

Oh dear, according to seagullparts ignition clarification three of my motors don't conform..... '67 cent has a bronze flywheel (may have been painted to match brass tank) tho this was the year of changeover. It has mk 1 ignition. '74 cent has silver flywheel with mk2 ignition. '82 102 has electronic...

To quote SOS web page: 'After 1963 there was a letter and number at the end of the sequence to denote month and year A = January 3 = 1963. In 1973 the codes continued with double letters, i.e. AA 3= January 1973.' ie '72 would be a single letter. '62 would not have a letter. Can we have a ruling on ...

Thanks Charles for that. You are a wealth of information. Not wishing to get into a debate about originality but I will need to think this one through. I can't abide anything that is not original but at the same token much prefer the brass look. Interesting that you mention that post 78/79 they were...

Brass Tank

Hi, can anyone tell me if the brass tanks (oval) on the sixties and later came out without the black paint or have they been stripped at a later date?

Thanks Hugo.

Yep, got one of those caps, black bakelite with a bakelite knurled nob.

She is the coolest running gull I've got. The water expelled was the same temperature as in the pond.

Cheers Hugo.

Took her out for a couple hours and she ran beautifully. The only trouble being I didn't get around to making those roo washers particulary the one before the nut holding the fuel bowl on and, you guessed it, the bowl dropped off never to be seen again and we bopped around Sydney Harbour. Quickly I ...

Er, no. You've got me there! Maybe it's got something to do with coolant? Best to contact the seller and ask. I did and this what they said:- "It is a piece of aluminium tubing about 1 1/2in wide x 3/8in. It is attached to the leg by a self tapping screw at each top and bottom. It appears to m...

Success!! Purring like a little kitten. She didn't go at first so it was back to the drawing board. I was checking the points again and noticed there was a little bit of movement with the magneto base plate which was causing a fluctuation in the points gap. I solved this by using a strip of adhesive...
