Seagull Race Lerryn 2017

Post by rosbullterier »

Well - you'll know from the Lerryn website it's on the 30th December - the only tide which allows everyone into the pub at mid afternoon after a Saturday race . .

So, if anyone is reeally interested I'll divulge this years theme thought up by the committee a short while ago but no lovely poster made yet . . .

Haven't heard from Chucky recently, and you get 59 minutes on Talktalk!

Yes, despite lacking a running motor, or boat, or crew, I'm interested! Don't worry about divulging the theme early though, if I make it (and I'd like to), I've plenty of other things to sort first.

I don't know about early - it's only three weeks!
And the weather will be balmy down here - and most of us speak English . . .

Anyway this years theme could involve BATHING COSTUMES

Theme for Lerryn this year is "Oh I do like to be beside the sea side".
Registration at 1300 hrs. Start time is 1400 hrs, finish 1530hrs or as long as it takes...........
HW is only a 4.9m at 1453 hrs so a bit low for boats coming up from Fowey or down from Losty but hope to raft up with few locals near the turning mark to watch the thrills and spills. Must dust off the Mankini....

Since no proper plans i have set for UK travel. Might head down for some photography shots, how far is the race from Salisbury, as on a road trip four four days

Perfect way to spend some time...... its about 170 miles from Salisbury - so allow three and a half hours min. Lots of photo ops at registration, and (silent) Racing Start. There are fine walks along the river banks where you can watch the race.

I have put 41 photos of the 2017 Lerryn Race on Facebook if anyone knows a young person who can work that thingy.
Site is Golant Boat Owners Association -Boatwatch.
Have lost the plot on how to get photos on SoS site
