Thanks oyster 49. I think its cool. Im not sure when I can get to restoring this one, as I already have a few other outboards that need finishing, before I start another.
In the meantime, I will keep an eye out for a head cover, and info on original colours and decals etc.
I appreciate everybody's input, and effort.

Wish you well on your quest, but remember there are very, very few of this model about (only made for a couple of years in the 30's), I've only ever seen one, & that the tiller arm is fastened to the cover, so should come attached to it.

Oh No, here we go again. LOL. I seem to have a bad habit of picking up outboards, that nobody else has.
I am always optimistic, and hope to someday find one to look at, or photograph etc.
Thats part of the fun? of vintage outboards.

Me too. Hard to miss if it was only made for a brief period though. Never stop learning in this game. I do like the 1930s period engines.

Its not the same as mine. My one has one piece cast iron barrel / head. The one in the video, has removable alloy heads.

Now where did these barrels come from I "wonder down under".

This engine belonged to my late Mate Mike now gone nearly three years. I always gave Him Crap about them?

Not the only motor He had with them either.

I remember you and I talking about this engine a couple of years ago Bruce. Are the barrels and heads grafted in off a Aussie engine?

notav8 - regarding Ferrier, the answer is yes, but I'll leave that for another thread. I have acquired a couple of photos of an Ensign that may be of use: firstly one of the cover and tiller and the other of the tank with remains of the decal. On each end would be a 'Ensign' decal and on top there would be decals of instructions.
Regarding the YouTube Britannia, to me this looks like a marriage of a late 30s Light Twin leg and tank with a power unit from a Swordfish MKIV. According to Peter Hunn's book this Swordfish was later manufactured in Australia under the name Triton - is that right?

Wow fascinating to see these I didnt know this model existed until this thread came about. All the more reason to keep an eye open.

Triton, yes that's the aussie built engine I was thinking off. They had removeable heads, unlike the BMB ones which were solid.

Hello Ferrier, that decal on that Eclipse is very similar to what we've seen on the light twin, maybe with a bit more color!

As for the Triton, made in Australia by ERL of New South Wales. Not sure that what the 'arrangement' was, or even if there was one. But if you sit a Swordfish and a triton side by side, there are some subtle differences to note.
