Verity Outboard

Post by AusAnzani »

Been a bit quiet here so I thought I'd share a few photos of a couple of Verity outboards belonging to my good friend Reg. I can only hope mine come up as nice when finished.

Earlier model (circa 1947) with the 2 piece cast aluminium tank.

Later model (circa 1950) with the pressed copper tank.

There are also several other more subtle differences between the two models.

Hope you enjoy the pics.

Yes, they were manufactured by A.V. Sale, 3 Mill Lane, Hurlstone Park, New South Wales from 1947 to approx 1953 or '54.

In 1956 Outboard Racer Len Sheltrum purchased the manufacturing rights and simplified the design to create the Riptide Fisherman.

Nice looking engines. There is a whole history of Australian outboards that needs to be written!

I am slowly working on that. Visit http://www.vintageoutboardsaustralia.blogspot.com I have set up a page for each Australia outboard brand and have populated several over the last year or so, but I've still got a long way to go.
