Dates for 102s

Post by charlesp »

Does anyone have serial numbers and dates for the wartime Seagulls? I have a wealth of information on this site about pre and post war numbers, but not the actual 1941 - 1945 serials, and indeed nothing about suffixes.

Can anyone tell me when:

1) the small black steel tank with sailor man logo appeared?

2) the dates they made the brass 102 tank with bayonet fitting?

3) When did they do away with the oil nipples on 102 gearboxes?

You can probably deduce from the above that I have a 102 that I can't identify precisely. It looks and feels like a Model D, but the crankcase lower half is a replacement and he thing bears no serial number. (The small steel tank question refers of course to something else!). I am of course aware that the thing may well be a 'bitsa', but the provenance suggests that these bits may have been together a very long time.
