Re: 102 barge pusher.?
Its listed as SD.5035.L3, so what's that around 1944 or something.
I did spot this one, nice, but too for away.

Microdots again
Re: 102 barge pusher.?
Looks like a good honest engine. SD model with incorrect later prop. The filler cap is a later screw in type too, but its a steel tank? Well worth bidding on in my view.
Re: 102 barge pusher.?
I'm only looking from my phone so not that clear. I think there might be more amiss at the lower end than just a prop. I good starting point to bring back to order.
Addit: Clutch lever? Original tank straps!

Re: 102 barge pusher.?
Think there is more than a prop amiss here. If this is an SD, shouldn't the water pump housing be the straight out the back exhaust? Probably why the wrong prop is on there. Carb appears to have a choke lever, thought SD's did not have a choke. Missing HT lead. Wrong transom bracket assembly, cobbled together fuel line. Assume tank is from a newer engine due to screw down cap, which is also a newer variant.
Do not get me wrong, as I would still love to have especially at the current GBP10 price, but looks like a lot need to get back to original, if that is your thing. If you do not care about originality, then with a little clean up,I am sure this will run just fine

Re: 102 barge pusher.?
I've concluded it is the correct tank but has a later cap jammed in! Lots of good stuff there.

Re: 102 barge pusher.?
It is very much something that has been kept useable over its life.
Lots incorrect but shows some history.
Interesting if compression, spark......generally runs aye.

Re: 102 barge pusher.?
Yes, the exhaust is a cut down version of a later "Sub ejector" lower housing. Missed that first time around.. they can be obtained, I have a couple spare.
Re: 102 barge pusher.?
thanks for your input oyster if i get it at the right price i would like to return to as close to original;
hugz. i noticed the dots and wondered if the owner had made a mistake with id number i have read previous posts on the decimals.
more than a coincidence that they turn up on a few gulls. love a mystery. thanks all. garry

Re: 102 barge pusher.?
Props can usually be found Let me know if you need a lower housing, I have a couple which need a little attention.
This one seems honest, if it is close it might be worth going for a quick look. Tanks can corrode, and have a good look at the cylinder to check for corrosion. Assume the coil is duff, and factor the cost of a new one (£65ish) If the tank has been bodged I think bayonet filler necks can still be found. Charles will know.
All in all nice projects the SDs.

Re: 102 barge pusher.?
One think I like about the copper top SD's is that they have the potential to go up in price as they may well be sought after not only by Seagull Collectors but also by WW11 collectors. And as such it is worth spending on their restoration over and above their market value. Finding a bayonet tank cap will take you a little while but there are moves a foot to have some produced. The straight exhaust is common to early A series so can be had. Fuel line can be made. As previously mentioned check if short water jacket is sound. I've put together far more incomplete SD's than that one!
I hope you don't get gazumped by a fellow seaguller for bringing it to our attention. I still say we should have a members only section on this forum so motors like this can be discussed away from the public eye.

Re: 102 barge pusher.?
Question about the three blade prop in this engine?
What seagulls should have this propeller? As i haven't see a 102 with a 3 blade prop.
