Code question

Post by never-outbored »

Got a featherweight at a car boot sale today, someone’s given it a brushed paint job but otherwise it’s tidy.

This is the code on it, but on the engine identifier it seems to struggle with the “WO” part of the code. Can anyone give me some more info? Thanks

If you look closely at the WO Ed, they are not the same font as the SJM, which to me would imply that they were not stamped at the same time as the serial number, possibly they represent the owners initials.

SJM 324 = 55-56 forty minus.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

The motor has a Wipac Mk2 ignition. I thought Seagull stamped them when they converted to Wipac, so the W stamp could be explained.

Perhaps the 0 stamp was the first one they did, it is an early one probably the first few days of production.
