Forty Plus - nuts or bolts???

Post by beerjam »

Hi all,

This is a question that I have been meaning to ask ever since acquiring my second Forty Plus. As we are in lock-down, again, and I am at home with my three daughters doing the home schooling thing, again, and it is raining, again, I have time to post my question here;

I have two Forty Plus motors - SJP507C4, produced March 1964, and SJP1270J6, produced September 1966.

SJP507C4 has nuts securing the cylinder head, whereas SJP1270J6 has bolts. Is this a normal state of affairs, or has someone changed one of these motors in the past? There is no evidence to suggest that either motor has been taken apart, but after nearly sixty years, who knows?

Stay safe,

Mark

Hi Mark,
My 40 Plus SJP 894 E 3 of 1963 has nuts. It was never disassembled.

All the best

Thank you for that information Sandro,

I knew that someone here would have the answer.
