I have some news about Adrian Dale, passed to me by Jon, who lives in Bristol, is actively involved in the Seagull scene and helped Adrian a great deal when he visited the UK.
He informs me that Adrian is very poorly and it appears that he is now probably receiving palliative care.
Adrian came onto the Seagull scene a few years, with long distance 102 activity. He introduced a real breath of fresh air into this hobby of ours, by ambitious plans of using Seagulls. Not for him, just talking about them.

I am sorry to hear that Adrians health has worsened. I met him once on one of the Thames events, nice guy.
He was living life to the full, and was only hindered by his health, would have loved to done the long Marston run with him.
Thanks for letting us know Jeremy.

Sorry to hear this, I sold a ON to him some years ago, and delivered it to his son who lives near me.

I have some very sad news passed to me by Jon.
Adrian Dale passed away on Wednesday.
I am sure all our thoughts are with his family at this difficult and sad time.
I did not know him very well, but talking over lunch when he visited me, revealed him to be a lovely, generous man with a great range of interests, skills and experiences.

Sorry to hear this news, reading of Adrian’s adventures and plans for new ventures was inspirational, he showed what a Seagull is still capable of.

Condolences to his Wife,
Dave.

I don’t know if you have heard about Adrian’s last voyage…

If it’s appropriate perhaps you may like to post this tribute Bob Brown and I wrote for the paper.

Late September 21 Adrian was diagnosed with Pleura Mesothelioma and given 6 months all thanks to asbestos exposure during his tenure with P&O. Adrian died, 7 April 2021 at precisely 07.00, 2 days before his 77th.
He died without pain, with dignity and in peace at home on Bruny Island. I was holding him as he took his last breath.
We had expert palliative care with assistance from the local medical team and doctor who frankly surpassed my expectations.
After appropriate procedures, we wrapped him in a canvas shroud bound with 3 hemp ropes tied in square knots. Previously when he was still sparking, he said, ‘make certain you don’t tie one around my neck!
He was cremated in a compostable ‘Peace Pod’ and made me promise there would be no fussy celebration, requested his ashes be spread at sea and over our land on Bruny Island.

I’m gutted and miss him beyond words, this is going to take a very long time…

All best, Allegra
