I'd call this a pretty complete synopsis of what's needed to both check out a potential barn-find or boot sale, or, to run through a working engine coming out of storage.

New nut case here...A Texan who just dug a working class EFPC 40/55 out of a salty dock box and followed the posted advice pretty close. Gave the old thing a little help with some 93 octane, a bit of Seafoam additive, and a 10/1 mix of two stroke synthetic. A full throttle, choke on pull or two and a massive cloud of sweet smoke ensued! The wife and I have a bet going to do the" 'Round De Island", Bermuda Race this June next. If any of you old mossbacks from the Mother Country want to tell an ignorant old cowboy how to go about it, we would raise one in your name from Sandy's Boat Club beach.
