Sailing dinghy 'Frances' and Seagull for SALE

Post by Adrian Dale »

Hello S.O.S folks

Bruny Island's Adrian Dale 'AJ', has asked me to list 'Frances' and a selection of the following Seagull Engines for sale.

This is due to his stroke condition preventing him from being able to use these items and he dearly loves.

He wants to sell his toys and is offering Frances (she needs TLC and a mud bath) and and engine of your choice from the list below for 1200.
Or nearest offer.

FIRST IN BEST DRESSED...

'FRANCES' paid 1500
She comes with cover, trailer & spare tyre, sailing rig and gear and the original BOS.

ENGINES

Curlew QB 1989 709.L3. paid 250

Osprey QB 1990 OL20B0 paid 250

SD SD 5709L8 paid 200
good condition, chopped down, burnished shaft and chinese hat, correct caburater, with trumpet

SD 4322.L paid 200
original barn find with long shaft condition unknown

Oh and all those engines are for sale at AJ's purchase price, you just have to collect from us in Aldham.

Thanks folks, look forward hearing from someone!

Allegra AJ's wife.

Hugo is building up a register of all the SD model engines we know about, so he is just after a few details, so he can log them.

Yes indeed. Just details for purposes of historical clarity.

No pressure as I'm sure you have much on your plate and the next owners can furnish them.

Sending Seagulls abroard is quite the drama so no desires along those lines.

Hi guys

Is this what you're looking for? Far as I understand the numbers below are the engine numbers.

Believe headsdownarseup also has a registry on file.

Thanks Allegra,

I've attached the questionnaire below which outlines the details we are after. Something for Adrain to ponder upon. As you can see it is rather intense.

Not sure about Jon's register..... haven't seen it. He asked for someone to take over and I volunteered.

Cheers, Hugo.

BRITISH SEAGULL SD RANGE REGISTER QUESTIONNAIRE

Thank you for providing us with the information so we can ascertain historical information on these motors. If you can email the information back to britishseagullsd@gmail.com it would be most appreciated. All personal details will be kept confidential and location of motors will only be publicised as Country, County/State/Province. For ease copy and paste this questionnaire into an email.
The information that we would like are as below. If you have photos, that would be great. A shot of both sides and the top plus the engine number please. Not to worry if that is difficult.
Engine number, ie SD.125.P3. Plus second crankcase # on tiller side (early SD’s)
Magneto number. The number can be found under the flywheel cover and on the magneto baseplate ie JM 7208
Skeg stamp. This is the C.I.E.S.S. round stamp on gearbox skeg.
Nipples on gearbox , tiller side or carb side.
Flywheel cover. Copper or Aluminium.
Bayonet petrol cap finish. Brass or Chrome.
Tank saddles. Cast aluminium or pressed brass/steel.
Clutch Lever. Brass/Bronze or aluminium.
Patent Inscription on Clutch lever, Yes or No.
Amal 46A 3A carburettor. Brass body or Aluminium.
Carburettor float chamber top. Brass or Aluminium.
Flywheel nut. Brass or brass chromed.
Flywheel nut top. The hex nut has no lighthouse top and measures .82" face to face. The later ones may have a Standard Seagull nut with the lighthouse top.
Fuel Tap. Brass or Chrome.
Amal throttle lever. Brass or Chrome plated.
Exhaust tube. Plain Brass or Chrome plated.
Tank Decal: Seagull on the tank. Y or N.
Driveshaft. Short or long. They came as standard long but many have been cut down.
Location. Country of motor. Your phone number and email address would be appreciated, optional. MANY THANKS.

Hi there Hugo

Not certain we have the time for this register at present.

Suggestion, it may be easier if an excel sheet was created for the register!

Thanks Hugo

He doesn't always check his mail, I'll get him to do that later.
Been sleeping all day due to activity fatigue that has caught up with him...
