Century only runs with choke

Post by Responder59 »

My Century suffered a salt water submersion. after much cleaning and flushing the motor starts but will only run with the choke on. Water is pumping OK. Any help appreciated.

strip the carbie down completely and give it all a good soak in metho or kero or whatever and dry it inside and out with compressed air.
Make sure the needle and seat is clean,
It is an easy job.
clean the fuel filter on the tank on the petrol tap

You have to have a blocked Jet if it runs on choke. with the Villiers watch out for the secondary jet, use a 10mm spanner on the main jet body and it will split into two parts, revealing the other jet, offset in the top part... See the FAQ page for more on cleaning carbs.

Hope this helps,

Regards,
John
