Seagull 40 water stopped pumping

I ran my Seagull 40 SJPL 2200E5 in a dustbin today with the prop removed like I normally do but unfortunately over reved the engine which seems to have stopped the water flow.

Can anyone suggest what may have gone wrong and is this a terminal event?

I have had this outboard motor for approx 15 years and although used very infrequently just for fun has always started and ran well.
