What carb is this?
Hello to all. I came across this engine. http://pho1.scar.gr/2541/2541715_5_b.jpg
It is a silver century with FNR gearbox but I don't know the serial. Can you recognise the carb? I don't.

Looks like the carb is on sideways anyway, looks like a more modern mini-motor type thing. anyway its not going to last long with no paint, also looks over polished.

Looks like a Mikuni carby that would have been fitted to a 50-90cc scooter its on its side and would
not run in that position. Made in Japan or China.

Definatley a Mikuni Motorbike carby. They still use those carbs on current 2 stroke dirt-bikes today. Would be interesting to see how it would perform on a seagull.

There were some posts on using Pit Bike carbs about 12 months ago .. With Photos It eveidentally worked very well and was easy to fit and cheap.
Seems the idea upset the powers that be and the poster got banned and the posts removed .....

I would NOT use that Carb at all on a Gull.
Yes, it is located wrong and Yes, not a happy Chappy if you get the motor to fire up even with it the correct way up.

Definitely a motorcycle carb, Mikuni or a Chinese clone, you can still see the bracket where there original throttle cable was routed. Obviously it won't run with the carb on it's side, unless you operate with a peculiar trim angle with the prop inside the boat

I agree I cannot see changing the carb having any benefit, other than the availability of numerous different jet sizes. I think the the Seagull motor is in too low a state of tune for any improvement to be gained through changing a carb, and besides the OEM carbs seem to work very reliably.
As for the price that's insane for what has to be a none runner with that carb. If the price was right it doesn't look a bad motor and the correct carb could be obtained, but it looks to me like it's just been tarted up to look nice with the polished flywheel and prop and certainly looked much worse in recent history. I 'd only want to pay about $100 or do for something like that, given the cost of a correct carb, throttle cable etc.

Let me know if it sells, at that price I'm thinking of becoming the official importer of Seagull motors to Greece 
Having looked at the photos again it looks like someone bought the existing owner a Dremel and a Wire Brush attachment for Christmas, even the tank got a going over from the look of the finish.
