CHOLSEY 2015

Post by headdownarseup »

Hi all.
I've been talking to A-J down under and thought it was high time we got this years Cholsey event under some sort of planning.
As previosly discussed on here with other members, i think we can all say that we will work to A-J's dates (more or less)

SO, with that in mind the dates are as follows
20-21 june
27-28 june
4-5 july
11-12 july

I think the easiest option for most of us will be to go for a weekend rather than during the week. Right?
Take a look at the dates, decide amongst yourselves which works best and we'll go from there. But don't take too long deciding as there's only 7-10 weeks to get this organised and i need to confirm with work which weekend i'm taking off!

Also we're looking for a spare dinghy for A-J to use. Has anyone got a spare boat they can chuck on a roofrack perhaps?
He's ok for a motor on the day (and a couple spare just in case) but still stuck for a boat at the moment.

cheers
jon

Many thanks Jon, actually I'm supposed to be going back to AUZ on the 13th so the weekend of the 11/12th might be cutting it a bit fine.

My friend has a boat but we would have to trailer it from Ipswich, not such a problem but if you are close and can get a boat there easily that would be great, but if its at all difficult or inconvenient we can tow my mates. Ill bring a Marsden and a Century as back up along with beer and nibbles.

It's looking more like 27th-28th june or 4th-5th july at the moment

H-A , nice to know that spare boats will be on hand. (probably makes a bit more sense as i think you're probably closer than Chucky)
However if all goes wrong, there is a possible spare boat up near me (Jeremy) only problem is getting it there! I shall be towing my own boat on it's trailer but i dont have a roof rack. (yet)

Anybody else got any other thoughts or dates.
Either a saturday or a sunday works for me, just need to know which one?

Dont panick A-J, we'll get you a ride (somehow!)

I will need to firm up the date, and boat lend requirements asap.

Is a mid week run possible? more parking available.

Not sure why there is a panick, or even a panic, I can lend 3 boats 4 at a push.

Or am I missing something?

Sorry H-A, didn't realise how many spare boats you had! (panick over)

Saturday or Sunday works much better for me. (i dont mind arriving at the venue at "silly o'clock" in the morning if only to get parked) More time on the water!

If we were to look at a mid-week date, which day? (only reason is i need to give work as much notice as possible, ideally 1 month in advance, otherwise they start to get a bit funny with me) you know how it is with bosses sometimes!

I am planning to go on the 28th June, have penned it in the diary.

Hope that works for everyone, pop down to seagull for a coffee or an icecream then up to the pub for a bit of amber necta.

Six and a bit weeks away, should be enough time to sort things out.

Fantastic.
Works well for me also. Hopefully this will work for others, if not say now and we'll try and re-schedule. (sort of)

Will get there for "sparrow's fart" (silly o'clock a.m) in order to get parked and boat launched.

Same agenda as last year then. Play it by ear i guess.

Anyone else coming this year?
Jeremy? (i know you're re-doing the trailer bearings as we speak  )
Oyster (missed you last year)

Anyone else want to come for a laugh and a good day out...
and of course there will be plenty of pics taken throughout the day for all to enjoy

I know it been a long time since I posted anything. ( most of you thought I was dead ) If this meetings still going ahead on the 28th I would love to come down and meet you chaps. Would the inflatable be acceptable mode of transport with the trusty 40+ ?
All the best

Yes no problem Graham.

Charles and I were only a couple of days ago, wondering where you had disappeared to.
Glad you are not dead.
