Difficult starting

Post by kenthegeordie »

My Silver Century runs like a dream. Friend has a much more modern Century (blue squarish tank) which his manual says is 50:1 mix. I am not even sure he has the right manual. I have advised him he should stick with 25:1 (SOS FAQ). He has mega trouble starting it. I suggested 1st that he gets a new plug (old one looks shot), but do all Centurys have contact breaker points, even if electronic ignition is standard? Or are they without contact breaker points?

It's possible that a reversion to 25:1 may help immensely.

But it's wise to check that there is a good spark - udually electronic ignition gives little trouble.
